My books

  • Advent

We tend to think of Advent as the season of anticipation before Christmas—and while it is that, it’s also much more. Throughout its history, the church has observed Advent as a preparation not only for the first coming of Christ in his incarnation but also for his second coming at the last day. It’s also about a third coming: the coming of Christ to meet us in our present moment, to make us holy by his Word and Sacrament.

  • Prayer in the Night

    ~ Christianity Today’s 2022 Book of the Year ~

    ~ ECPA’s 2022 Christian Book of the Year ~

Where do we find comfort when we lie awake worrying or weeping in the night? This book offers a prayerful and frank approach to the difficulties in our ordinary lives at work, at home, and in a world filled with uncertainty.

  • Liturgy of the Ordinary

    ~ Christianity Today’s 2018 Book of the Year ~

    ~ IVP’s 2017 Reader Choice Award Winner ~

In the overlooked moments and routines of our day, we can become aware of God's presence in surprising ways. How do we embrace the sacred in the ordinary and the ordinary in the sacred?

  • Little Prayers for Ordinary Days

From the moment we awake in the morning until we go back to bed, every day is filled with ordinary moments that allow us to connect with God.

Little Prayers for Ordinary Days is a collection of short prayers for children to pray in the midst of their day: on the way to school, after seeing a friend, when noticing a bird in the tree, or looking at the stars, or during any of their comings and goings.

"Warren seamlessly blends together lived realities with theological reflections. Her writing is lyrical and often humorous, and she has a gift for making theological concepts seem easy to understand and (perhaps most importantly) easy to live."
