Refresh for 2019

I promised from the beginning that I would not write on here often, and I have kept my word. This isn’t intended to be a blog as much as an online collection of my work, for those who want to read it, and a little corner of the internet with information about me, my speaking events, my writing and books, how to contact me, and very occasional newsy updates. But, this time, I went a long, long, long time without updating, so I hope that in 2019, I’ll do a slightly better job of updating this site about once a month to keep it current with the goings on.

Anyway, I’m working away (very slowly) on my second book, which is a theological look at reproduction cycles of Gulf Coast Porpoises [working title: The Porpoise Driven Life, Alternate Title: Girl, Wash Your Rounded Snout]. Okay, it’s not about that at all. But I’m not talking about it much yet because it is just barely in formation, so let’s pretend that that is what I’m writing.

We announced the launch of The Pelican Project in November, which I am very excited about. Read more about it here in an interview with CT Women.

In December, I visited Wheaton College for their Staley Lecture Series (which can be seen here, here, and here, for those of you with loads of extra time on your hands), and a piece I wrote for The Point Magazine was featured by David Brooks as a Sidney Award winner, which was a great surprise. Read his column here.

The winter issue of Comment Magazine is a beauty. It is about Minimalism and is full of great essays (by some friends of mine!). Here is an interview/dialogue between Sarah Hamersma and myself on Liturgies of Less…And More. In it, we discuss simplicity, liturgy, technology, and ‘small resistances’ to consumerism.

Lastly, I was on NPR’s 1A last week, discussing (of all things) hell and judgement. You can listen in here.

As I push “refresh” on my site for the year, I updated my Event Page and my Essays and Interviews page, and actually almost every other page, so feel free to take a look around.

Thanks for reading! And peace to you….t

This is an honest question that I'd like us to wrestle with and answer. https://t.co/BFu88jkjiP

The gospel is never (to quote Robert Browning) "God's in His heaven, and all's right with the world!" It's closer… https://t.co/aBzoDdCjJn
